The Madrid EDITION is a minimal luxury resort located in Madrid, Spain, designed by architect John Pawson in collaboration with Ian Schrager Company. The second property within Spain, The Madrid EDITION offers a sophisticated atmosphere that captures the city’s alluring character and soul, increasing the appeal of the Spanish capital.
In addition to the 200 guest rooms, there are two restaurants – each run by a top-tier, award-winning chef – three distinctive bar concepts, an outdoor pool on the rooftop with panoramic views of Madrid’s cityscape, a wellness and spa facility, as well as a number of other amenities. As described by Schrager, “It’s about creating an original and new kind of gathering place for both locals and visitors alike.”
The building is clean-lined and contemporary, ornamented solely with a magnificent 18th-century baroque entrance that was salvaged from an adjacent building and lies on Plaza de la Descalzas with evocative views of a 16th-century royal monastery. The lobby features custom-made sofas and armchairs by Jean-Michel Frank, recycled bronze stools by Maison Intègre, seats with rope coverings by Christian Astuguevieille, and a pool table that was fashioned by designer Emmanuel Levet Stenne from a single piece of white Bianco Neve matte marble.
